In this economy of 2024, everybody wants to earn some extra money. Unfortunately, American HR departments and Indian job agencies go too far with their greediness, and literally kill American software engineers.
Here are the things happening in American companies right now.
There are a lot of American companies that are in need of good software engineers. And there are a lot of unemployed great American software engineers.
However, whenever American companies look for software engineers to fill their needs, their HR departments always work through Indian job agencies.
1. American HR departments get kickback money from Indian job agencies
It is not about cost effectiveness or management efficiency as they claim.
The cost to hire a contractor, in term of hourly salary alone, is at least 3 times to 5 times higher than the salary of a full time employee in the same position. And the hiring process is much slower and more costly for the companies that need software engineers.
American HR departments hire through Indian job agencies because of a very simple fact: Indian job agencies pay kickback money to American HR departments each time they place a software engineer in a contract position.
And it is not a one-time fee. It is a cut on hourly salary of the software engineer that the agency places in the position of the company.
Sometime, there are several layers of Indian job agencies, for example, when an American company looks for a software engineer, its HR department works through the agency A. The agency A does not look for a software engineer by itself, but works through agency B. The agency B might look for a software engineer, or it works through agency C.
All of those agencies don't just get a finder fee, but each of them take a high percentage cut from the hourly salary of the software engineer that they place to the client.
As consequences, the end client, i.e. the American company will pay a very high hourly salary to a consultant, somewhere equivalent to $300K - $500K per annum of a full time employee. But because of the percentage cuts, the money that goes into the software engineer's account is a little more than a burger flipper's salary.
No real software engineer will work for that low a salary, so the American company ends up paying a very high price equivalent to a salary of a super software engineer ($300K - $500K per annum), and the company gets an Indian burger flipper, while most of the money goes into the percentage cuts and the kickback.
2. Indian mafia in job agencies and American companies work together to filter out high qualified non-Indian software engineers
The Indian job agencies and Indian engineers who are already working at American companies form an organization similar to the mafia.
For all the good paying jobs, they will pretend to interview Caucasian engineers, Asian engineers, and Latin American engineers, but then they will offer the jobs to their brothers, sisters, cousins and friends.
They offer jobs to their relatives and friends who have nearly no skills at all, despite that all the Caucasian engineers, Asian engineers, and Latin American engineers have a much much much higher levels of knowledge, skills and capabilities.
3. American HR departments force independent successfully-interviewed candidates to take other jobs.
The following HR practice is the most terrible thing that happens in most of the American companies right now in 2024.
An American company needs good software engineers, and posts a job ads.
When a good software engineer for some reason gets pass the HR mafia department of the American company, get an interview, then at every step of the way, the American HR department will do everything in their power to dissuade the engineer from continuing to interview with the company.
The mafia HR department will try to delay the interview schedules, will pretend to schedule interviews in wrong time zones, so the candidate will miss the interviews and get on the bad side of the interviewers. They will try to schedule as many interview rounds as possible.
Some candidates that I know had to go through as many as seven rounds of interviews, passed all the rounds, was told that they passed with flying colors. Even then, the mafia HR departments tried to delay the offers as long as possible, in many cases, months after the last interviews.
In some other instances, the candidates had to go through four or five rounds of interviews, passed all of them. The engineering departments and the interviewers absolutely loved them. But the candidates got stringed along for months after their last interviews by the mafia HR departments.
Due to the bad hiring situation created by American HR departments and the Indian job agencies, some candidates were willing to wait for months to get the job offers, because they had the same troubles with all the companies they interviewed with.
In these cases, the mafia HR departments would insult the candidates by making very low offers, amount to nearly nothing, sometime even very close to unemployed welfare. For a good software engineer, no less.
The HR departments also pretended that they contacted the candidates on the wrong phone numbers to discuss about the verbal offers (which was bullshit, because how else they did the previous phone interviews in the first place). In many cases, the candidates sent the phone numbers via emails, but the HR did not care to see the numbers in the emails. There were HR replies for those mails though.
Behaving that way, the mafia HR departments literally force the software engineers to take other jobs somewhere else, so they can hire from the Indian job agencies, and get kickback money.
It is horrible that almost all the American companies are doing the same terrible hiring practice now, so good American software engineers cannot find jobs anywhere.
Together, American HR departments and Indian job agencies literally kill American software engineers. Great American software engineers now have no options but work menial jobs that have nothing to do with programming, or become homeless drug addicts.
From downtown Seattle (WA) to the Tacoma airport, under the I-5 highway people can see a lot of former Amazon engineers, former Microsoft engineers now are homeless drug addicts.
A lot more of great software engineers are dying everyday in all over the United States, not because of the economy, not because nobody needs good software engineers anymore.
Good American software engineers are dying because the American HR departments and the Indian job agencies kill them. For kickback and percentage cut money.
Recap:
1. In 2024, a lot of American companies still need good software engineers.
2. American HR departments of American companies hire people through Indian job agencies to get kickback money.
3. The American companies that need good software engineers cannot find any good ones. They find only low-skilled or no-skilled Indian so-called software engineers, because the Indian job agencies work with Indian interviewers to dismiss non-Indian high skilled engineers, to put their relatives and friends in the jobs.
4. The American companies pay super high prices for contractors (equivalent of $300K - $500K per annum), but most of the money go into agencies' percentage cuts and kickback money. The contractors get only slightly better than a burger flipper's hourly rate.
5. When an independent engineer for some reason can pass through the HR mafia to have interviews, the HR departments will do everything in their power to sabotage the hiring process, including, but not limiting to: delaying interviews, creating as many interview rounds as possible, scheduling interviews in wrong time zones, insulting candidates by lowballing the salary offers to half of the market prices, or even less.
This is an inhuman hiring practice that kills skilled engineers, kills people for real, literally kills people, not just figuratively speaking.
